I’ll walk you through why and how and everything hot chocolate in my 7 QT Crock-Pot. I’ll also mention that you need to try myBrownie In A Mug recipe for a quick chocolate fix like no other!!

HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE

This is my favorite hot chocolate recipe for so many reasons.

First of all, it’s super chocolate-y with a divine, deep and rich chocolate taste. That’s because the recipe has chocolate chunks and cocoa powder.

This hot chocolate is luscious and creamy but not heavy. I use a combo of milk and cream for that.

However I use just a small amount of cream compared to the milk and that’s why I get a luscious hot chocolate feel without the heaviness.

You’ll notice this recipe has a little amount of sugar so that the chocolate flavor can shine. Since I’ve added chocolate chunks, they too will add some sweetness.

It’s completely optional whichever type of chocolate chunks you choose to use here. Milk, semisweet or dark chocolate work well here, so this is totally your choice.

HOMEMADE HOT CHOCOLATE

The major difference between homemade hot chocolate and store bought is that YOU are in control of your hot chocolate! If you’re a real chocoholic, I can’t tell you enough how much you’ll appreciate this.

So start with how milky to dark depending on how you prefer your hot chocolate to be.

Similarly adjust the cream and milk ratio depending on how rich and thick you want the hot chocolate to be.

Finally the flavor you want to add. I’ve added vanilla and salt because they are probably the most basic. However you can really jazz your drink up with coffee, orange oil, cinnamon, spice, chai, and more!

CROCK-POT HOT CHOCOLATE

While there are many ways to make your favorite hot chocolate, I love using crock-pot.

I love this Crock-Pot for so many reasons. It has a nonstick oval stoneware inside which serves as a beautiful serving dish, and features an Easy Clean nonstick coating that reduces the time and energy it takes to clean up.

You don’t need to soak or scrub the stoneware. You can simply wipe it down with soap and water and it’s clean! The lid has a gasket which locks in all the heat and makes transporting dishes super easy.

My Crock-Pot is my favorite appliance when I need to plan ahead. So for today’s recipe, I simply added all the ingredients in my Crock-Pot and set it to low for two hours.

In the meantime I can go ahead and prepare so many things, including the chocolate bar toppings. No more standing on the stove, whisking and watching over so the milk doesn’t boil.

Aside from the convenience in letting my Crock-Pot do all the work for me, the most important factor is the taste!

Making your hot chocolate in a Crock-Pot offers you the perfect, creamy yet sweet chocolate taste. The taste you crave without any aftertaste from over cooking the chocolate or scalding the milk and cream.

HOT CHOCOLATE BAR

There’s something extra special about a hot chocolate bar. It feels like there’s something for everyone and it’s super fun to watch everyone assembling their favorite cup of hot chocolate to their taste.

Kids and grown ups love this, and so feel free to use as many or as little toppings as your heart desires

I’ve used marshmallows, satiny chocolate sauce, whipped cream, crushed candied nuts, crushed candy canes and chocolate chips.

You can probably go as crazy as you like! Some of my other favorite toppings include: Toffee Bits, Caramels, Sea Salt, Cinnamon, Caramel, Biscotti cookies.
