Wisconsin volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield and players MJ Hammill, Izzy Ashburn and Sarah Franklin talk about what they will remember most from this season, which ended with a loss to Texas in the national semifinals.
The University of Wisconsin volleyball team will play three matches this spring, including one at the UW Field House.
The Badgers will play Big Ten Conference rival Purdue at 3 p.m. April 7 at Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana. The home match will be against Illinois-Chicago at 7 p.m. April 19, with the final match being at 6:30 p.m. April 26 against Northern Iowa at the University of Dubuque in Iowa.
No ticket will be needed for the match at the Field House.
The Badgers originally weren’t planning to play any matches because they didn’t have a setter after the departure of last season’s setters, Izzy Ashburn and MJ Hammill. But the arrival of transfer Carly Anderson from Montana allowed coach Kelly Sheffield to set up three matches.

The Badgers return much of the core of their team that went 30-4 and advanced to the NCAA Final Four before losing to Texas in the national semifinals.
That group includes AVCA National Player of the Year Sarah Franklin, All-Americans Anna Smrek, Carter Booth and Devyn Robinson, along with Julia Orzol, Gulce Guctekin, Caroline Crawford and Saige Damrow. Crawford and Damrow are sidelined this spring as they recover from injuries.
